
ARLINGTON, V.A. -- The Washington Capitals preseason schedule is officially here.
Washington will play in six preseason games against four different opponents. The Capitals will open the preseason on Sept. 24 against the Buffalo Sabres at 2 p.m. ET.

Sept. 24, 2 p.m. ET - Buffalo Sabres vs. Washington Capitals
Sept. 28, 2 p.m. ET - Detroit Red Wings vs. Washington Capitals
Sept. 30, 7 p.m. ET - Washington Capitals vs. Detroit Red Wings
Oct. 3, 7 p.m. ET - Washington Capitals vs. Boston Bruins
Oct. 5, 7 p.m. ET - Washington Capitals vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
Oct. 7, 7 p.m. ET - Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Washington Capitals
Washington's training camp is expected to kick off in mid-September. The exhibition games will allow a number of the team's prospects and up-and-comers to show what they can do and try to prove their worth to win a roster spot.
Connor McMichael and Hendrix Lapierre are two names to watch with the team likely to make changes going into the season. Meanwhile, Ivan Miroshnichenko signed his entry-level deal after terminating his KHL contract and is expected to take part in camp and the preseason.
