Sammi Silber/THN - Ovechkin Dealing With Injury, Game-Time Decision vs. Panthers

ARLINGTON, V.A. -- The Washington Capitals might be without captain Alex Ovechkin on Saturday against the Florida Panthers, as he will be a game-time decision due to an upper-body injury.

Ovechkin was absent for the team's morning skate.

The 37-year-old has missed six games this season, with two of those being due to a lower-body injury. Most recently, he missed the March 14 game against the New York Rangers with a lower-body ailment. The Capitals are 0-6-0 without No. 8 in the mix this season and have lost the last nine games overall when he's out of the mix.

It's a big loss for Washington as the team, which is eliminated from playoff contention, looks to salvage wins in these final four games.

Through 72 games this season, Ovechkin leads the Capitals with 42 goals and 32 assists. He is at 822 career goals and sits 74 away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goals record.
