The Washington Capitals are officially on All-Star Break, and the players are taking their time with a little rest and relaxation.

Alex Ovechkin made his way to Dubai with his wife, Nastya, and two sons, Sergei and Ilya, and he's making the most of his vacation.

First, he met up with former D.C. United star and soccer legend Wayne Rooney.

After that, he took part in camel rides with his family and spent the rest of the night celebrating his father-in-law, Kirill Shubsky's, birthday with music, drumming and more festivities.

Ovechkin, who is tied for the team lead in points, reportedly informed the team earlier in the season that he did not want to be selected to participate in the 2024 NHL All-Star Game so that he could rest up for the second half. He was dealing with a lower-body injury for a few games prior to the break.

Tom Wilson is the Capitals' lone All-Star representative and is headed to Toronto this week to play in his second All-Star Game in front of family and friends.

Meanwhile, Evgeny Kuznetsov reunited with former teammate Dmitry Orlov at the beach, as both families got together to ring in the vacation. Orlov now plays for the Carolina Hurricanes after having been traded to the Boston Bruins last February as part of last year's sell-off.

Anthony Mantha, Dylan Strome and Ethan Bear are also at the beach, as more players opted for the likes of the Bahamas and other waterside resorts to get a change in scenery.

Matthew Phillips and more also opted to go golfing together while taking some time away.

Washington returns from the All-Star Break on Feb. 5 and will be in for a tough second half with a difficult schedule and a lot of ground to make up in the playoff race.

The Capitals are currently six points out of a Wild Card spot and also have to keep up with their opponents, who are also closing in on a position.

D.C. plays its first game of the unofficial second half on Feb. 6 at home against the Montreal Canadiens.
