WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals will be without the services of Connor McMichael on Wednesday against the New York Islanders due to illness.
The team announced the news shortly before warmups.
Hendrix Lapierre will take McMichael’s spot between Aliaksei Protas and Anthony Mantha.
Matthew Phillips will dress as the 12th forward in his place and slot into Lapierre’s spot with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ivan Miroshnichenko.
