The Capitals center is not on the ice for the first practice after All-Star break
ARLINGTON, V.A. — Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov is not on the ice for the first practice after the All-Star Break, as he is not skating Monday due to personal reasons, per the team.
It is unclear when Kuznetsov will be back or if he will be available for Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens. He had reunited with Dmitry Orlov and went on vacation during the break.
With Kuznetsov out, the Capitals have recalled forward Michael Sgarbossa from the AHL's Hershey Bears, general manager Brian MacLellan announced.
Sgarbossa leads the Bears with 36 assists and 43 points so far this season. He was practicing in Kuzntsov's place on the third line with Anthony Mantha and Aliaksei Protas.
Kuznetsov's season has been inconsistent, as he has just six goals and 11 assists for 17 points through 43 games. He had three points in his final three outings before the break.
