The Washington Capitals saw two of their budding prospects crack Team USA's selection camp roster for the upcoming World Junior Championships, with both Ryan Leonard and Ryan Chesley making the cut and set to head to Plymouth to fight for a spot.
Leonard, who went eighth overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, has been dominating in his freshman year with Boston College. Through 16 games this season, the 18-year-old has 10 goals and seven assists with the Eagles and is on a nine-game point streak.
Meanwhile, Ryan Chesley, who went in the second round of the 2022 NHL Draft (No. 37), has two goals and three assists for five points in 16 games this season with the Big Ten's Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The U.S. will hold a three-day selection camp from Dec. 14-16 to determine its final 20-man roster for the World Junior Championships, which kick off on Dec. 26 in Gothenburg.
