Capitals' Projected Lines For Preseason Tilt With Bruins Offers Insight Into Top-6, Cristall & More Prospects Getting Second Look

ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals are back in action and will have more veterans in the mix against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, as Pierre-Luc Dubois and Matt Roy will make their debuts with their new team at TD Garden.

The projected lineup for Tuesday's tilt offers a look at some potential combinations we could see during the regular season, while Andrew Cristall, Ivan Miroshnichenko and more will also get another opportunity to show what they can do with another exhibition game. Meanwhile, it marks the first game brothers Aliaksei and Ilya Protas will play together.

Here are the lines that the Capitals ran with at morning skate:

    Connor McMichael-Pierre-Luc Dubois-Tom Wilson

    Aliaksei Protas-Hendrix Lapierre-Ivan Miroshnichenko

    Andrew Cristall-Mike Sgarbossa-Ethen Frank

    Ilya Protas-Henrik Rybinski-Pierrick Dubé

    Martin Fehervary-Matt Roy

    Häman Aktell-Ethan Bear

    Chase Priskie-Vincent Iorio

Hunter Shepard and Mitchell Gibson will both head up to Boston and figure to split the game, though that could change.

These combinations provide insight into what could be the team's second line to open the season with Dubois, McMichael and Wilson skating together, while it also gives several prospects like Andrew Cristall, who shined in the team's preseason opener on Sunday, another chance to stand out.

Washington is coming off of its first round of cuts, which trimmed the roster down to 51 players. Those re-assigned included Ryan Hofer, Cam Allen, Eriks Mateiko and Tyler Weiss.
