The Washington Capitals is bringing in Max Pacioretty.
Washington has Pacioretty to a one-year deal worth $2 million. It is the second deal of the day for the team following the morning acquisition of Joel Edmundson.
Pacioretty is coming off an injury-riddled year with the Carolina Hurricanes that saw him suffer two consecutive torn Achilles in a span of five months. He played in just five games for Carolina, where he had three goals.
Prior to that, he had 37 points in 39 games with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2021-22 and has proven to be a consistent 50-plus point-scorer over the course of his career. He's scored at least 30 goals in six different seasons.
Though Pacioretty is 34, he hasn't shown a drop in production, and his one-year deal for just $2 million is a low risk with the potential of a high reward. Plus, he can play top-6 minutes, add to the power play and put up the numbers that Washington is looking for.
