The Capitals will see a sibling rivalry take place as they face the Rangers.
WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals are back in action and are in for a challenge as they look to end a three-game skid against ex-head coach Peter Laviolette and the New York Rangers. And all the while, a sibling rivalary will be taking place, as brothers square off for the first time against one another at the NHL level.
Charlie Lindgren will get the start, as he will face younger brother Ryan for the first time at the NHL level. His mom and dad, Bob and Jennifer, and grandfather will be watching from home, along with middle brother Andrew. The brothers had dinner last night at Charlie's home.
The last time the brothers faced off was at the AHL level, when Ryan's Hartford Wolf Pack beat Charlie's Springifeld Thunderbirds in overitme.
Meanwhile, this Metro Division showdown will see T.J. Oshie draw back into the mix, as the 36-year-old is ready to return from an upper-body injury that held him out for the last six games. He suffered the injury in a collision with Mattias Ekholm.
In addition to Oshie, Sonny Milano will also slot back in following a healthy scratch in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Dallas Stars. The 27-year-old is looking to reignite his spark and find offense after going the last seven games without a point.
With both Oshie and Milano returning, the team will have to make a corresponding roster move, and it looks like it will be Hendrix Lapierre going back down to Hershey.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena.
