Capitals Notebook: Dubois Arrives In D.C., Informal Skates Continue

The Capitals informal practices are ramping up.

ARLINGTON, V.A. — Pierre-Luc Dubois has officially touched down in D.C. and joined the Washington Capitals as the team continues to prepare for the upcoming season.

Dubois joined the mix on Thursday as John Carlson continued to lead informal skates at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound pivot was all smiles and in high spirits as he took the ice with his new team, fitting right into the mix and showcasing his stickhandling, shooting and smooth skating ability throughout the skate.

Along with Dubois, new offseason acquisition Logan Thompson was also skating with the team. Matt Roy, who has already joined the sessions, was not on the ice on Thursday.

Alex Alexeyev was also skating, along with former Capitals Nick Jensen, Anthony Mantha and Nicolas Aube-Kubel, who were sporting their new team colors. A variety of junior players were also skating.

Goaltending coach Scott Murray is leading these player-led sessions as the team continues to prepare for the upcoming season. Skaters took part in drills to start before taking part in a shootout and doing some skating work to close out the practice.

Washington overhauled roughly a third of its roster this offseason, bringing in Dubois, Thompson and Roy, while also trading for Jakob Chychrun and signing Brandon Duhaime and Taylor Raddysh.

The Capitals are hoping that their revamp can help them return to the playoffs and make a deeper run this time around after being swept at the hands of the New York Rangers.

Training camp will open in late September.
