The Washington Capitals saw some changes to their lines on Monday, as head coach Spencer Carbery made some tweaks with several blueliners still ailing and T.J. Oshie taking a maintenance day upfront.
Washington is also still carrying three goaltenders, with Darcy Kuemper joining Charlie Lindgren and Hunter Shepard after missing the last two games with an undisclosed injury.
With Martin Fehervary still on the shelf and out for Tuesday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Washington is running with Lucas Johansen on the top pairing against John Carlson following a strong showing in the Capitals' 4-1 win over the New York Islanders.
"We talked the other night about Lucas sort of separating himself, and he did a real nice job defending, especially against some of their top people," head coach Spencer Carbery said.
In other blue line news, Trevor van Riemsdyk and Joel Edmundson took another step forward and joined the group for a full practice in a non-contact jersey. Both were together on a pairing, and Carbery said after practice that TVR is closer to a return than Edmundson at this point in time.
With Oshie missing practice due to maintenance, Matthew Phillips took his spot on the second line, while Hendrix Lapierre drew into his spot.
Here are the full combinations and pairings from Monday's skate:
Alex Ovechkin-Evgeny Kuznetsov-Tom Wilson
Sonny Milano-Dylan Strome-Matthew Phillips
Aliaksei Protas-Connor McMichael-Hendrix Lapierre

Before practice, Anthony Mantha, who is on the injured reserve after being struck by a puck on Wednesday, took the ice in a non-contact jersey but did not remain on for practice. Max Pacioretty (Achilles) skated on his own ahead of the skate and continues to progress.
Washington faces the Golden Knights on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
