ARLINGTON, V.A. — After being shut out 4-0 in their season opener, the Washington Capitals made some tweaks to the lineup, but chose not to shake things up too much.
Carbery kept his lines and pairing mostly the same ahead of Monday's tilt against the Calgary Flames. However, Anthony Mantha is now the odd man out up front, as Aliaksei Protas took his place on the fourth line. On defense, Alex Alexeyev also drew in, replacing Lucas Johansen on the third pairing with Nick Jensen.
Darcy Kuemper was also back following the birth of his first child. He missed the season opener.
Here are the full combinations:
Alex Ovechkin-Nicklas Backstrom-T.J. Oshie
Connor McMichael-Evgeny Kuznetsov-Tom Wilson
Sonny Milano-Dylan Strome-Matthew Phillips
Beck Malenstyn-Nic Dowd-Aliaksei Protas
Anthony Mantha
Rasmus Sandin-John Carlson
Martin Fehervary-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Alex Alexeyev-Nick Jensen
Lucas Johansen
Darcy Kuemper
Charlie Lindgren
Carbery had changed the lines for a short amount of time in Friday's defeat, which marked the first time in the team's 49-year franchise history that it'd been held off the scoresheet in a season opener. Washington managed just 18 shots and was kept to the perimeter while failing to generate a lot of high-quality chances from in tight.
