The Capitals got a plethora of player updates at practice on Saturday.
ARLINGTON, V.A. — After a dominant win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, the Washington Capitals got right back to work with a high-spirited practice.
The Capitals welcomed 14-year-old Pascal Lettkemann from Austria and granted his wish after practice, skating with Alex Ovechkin and the team following drills.
Washington will be back in action on Sunday against the Arizona Coyotes, but the team still faces some questions and lineup decisions.
Beck Malenstyn did not skate and is questionable as he deals with an illness. Ivan Miroshichenko and Pierrick Dubé are the extra forwards who could draw in if Malenstyn is not well enough to play.
Meanwhile, Rasmus Sandin's status is also to be determined after being what head caoch Spencer Carbery called "nicked up" in the win over Philadelphia. He did practice on Saturday, thoguh, and stayed on for the entirety of the skate.
Nic Dowd took the ice again in a non-contact jersey and remained on for the full practice, and he remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He will not play Sunday, but has not been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Martin Fehervary had a scheduled off-ice workout on Saturday as part of his recovery plan and will also not play on Sunday, but he is making progress and trending in the right direction.
T.J. Oshie did not skate and remains week-to-week after suffering a non-contact upper-body injury on Feb. 22 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, who was cleared to return to practice, did not join the group but is expected to be worked back into the mix over time. This is the next step of his recovery as he continues to receive care from the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
