ARLINGTON, V.A. — After a huge comeback victory on Wednesday, the Washington Capitals took the ice for a quick Thanksgiving practice before some family bonding.
All players, with the exception of long-term injured reserve players Max Pacioretty (Achilles) and Nicklas Backstrom (hip), were accounted for at the skate and a full-go for contact.
Martin Fehervary continues to progress, as he took part in a full-contact practice for the second straight day. He has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, a and could be back for Friday's afternoon showdown with the Edmonton Oilers.
Evgeny Kuznetsov also skated and was a full-go at practice. He missed the last two games due to illness but appears to be recovered and is probably for Friday.
Washington held a quick, spirited skate on Thursday with their family and friends watching from the stands. It was a fast practice with no line rushes but a lot of pace, as Spencer Carbery blew whistle after whistle to signal the start of the next rush and drill.
Charlie Lindgren was the first off the ice, indicating that he could very well be back in net on Friday against Edmonton. Washington will not hold a morning skate on Friday before their tilt with the Oilers. Darcy Kuemper had been back in net for Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres.
After the skate, T.J. Oshie took the ice to skate with his daughter, Leni, while Dylan Strome spent some time with his daughter, Weslie.
Several Capitals plan to celebrate the holiday, with Tom Wilson set to host a team get-together at his house on Thursday.
