Capitals Offseason Training Notebook: Ovechkin Hits The Bikes With Jaskin, Duhaime Takes Ice In Team Colors, Lindgren & Strome Updates

The Washington Capitals have roughly two months to go until the start of training camp in September, and after getting some time off to open the offseason, the players are starting to get some work in and start training for the upcoming season.

Alex Ovechkin was hitting the gym on Wednesday and got some work in on the bike with former Capitals teammate Dmitrij Jaskin. The two played in an NHL vs. KHL All-Star Game this past weekend, where Ovechkin showed that he's still got it with a goal and player of the game honors.

Not only is Ovechkin putting in work, but several Washington teammates have also taken the time to get some on and off-ice work in this summer.

Capitals center Nic Dowd and Nick Jensen, who was traded to Ottawa for Jakob Chychrun on July 1, are playing in Da Beauty League in Minnesota. Both also trained with goaltender Charlie Lindgren at the start of the month.

The three trained at Velocity Training Center in Edina, Minnesota, with coach Nathan Welty, taking part in sprints, speed tests and other workouts.

Chychrun, meanwhile, skated back in Sarnia, while friend and new teammate Brandon Duhaime is skating in the SoFlo League in his home state of Florida. He has also been training at BARWIS.

Dylan Strome is also staying in shape, skating at BTNL Hockey in Ontario this offseason with a handful of other pros.

It's been a busy summer for D.C., who overhauled roughly a third of the roster. Now, it's up to the players to put in the work and be ready for camp.
