Here's the latest on some of the injured Capitals.
It's been a rough start to the season on the injury front for the Washington Capitals, specifically for Nic Dowd and Charlie Lindgren. However, head coach Spencer Carbery is hoping there is good news on that front coming soon.
Dowd is on the injured reserve as he continues to deal with an upper-body injury that has held him out the last seven games. He has not played since the Oct. 16 game against the Calgary Flames, where he appeared to be ailing over the course of the night.
Dowd also underwent core surgery over the offseason.
Carbery had said on Saturday that Dowd would be "a little bit," as he recovers and works his way back into the rhythm of game action. On Monday, he added that he's not sure what the timeline looks like, but the hope is that he will start trending in the right direction.
"To be determined," Carbery said.
Meanwhile, Lindgren, who returned to the lineup on Sunday and backed up after missing the last six games with an injury suffered during the optional morning skate ahead of the Calgary Flames game, went down again on Monday and had to leave practice early.
Fortunately for Washington, the new injury was unrelated to the one he'd suffered earlier, and the hope is that he will be good to go.
"He should be alright, but had to leave," Carbery explained.
Meanwhile, Joel Edmundson and Max Pacioretty remain on the long-term injured reserve. Both have ways to go, with Edmundson still working his way back and skating on his own following hand surgery and Pacioretty not yet taking the ice. With both on LTIR, neither is eligible to return before Nov. 8.
Washington returns to practice on Wednesday and plays Thursday against the New York Islanders.
