The Washington Capitals had one of their key players take the ice in Vegas on Tuesday, as Tom Wilson represented his team at the NHL's media day in Nevada.
The 29-year-old did some interviews and appeared on camera for promos ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
Wilson is coming off a productive offseason that saw him train hard and completely put his torn ACL from last season "in the rearview," and he also signed a seven-year contract extension in August. He had spent all of last summer rehabilitating following surgery in May 2022.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound winger returned to D.C. this past week to join his team for informal workouts before training camp on Sept. 21.
This coming season is supposed to be pivotal for Wilson, who is closing out his current contract and looking to remain consistent as top-6 contributor and a 50-plus point player. He had 22 points in just 33 games last season, but would have been on pace for a new career high and his second consecutive 50-plus point season had he not been injured.
Wilson joined Sidney Crosby, Matthew Tkachuk, Quinn Hughes, Connor Bedard and several more on the North American Tour. Rasmus Sandin had been Washington's representative on the European NHL media tour earlier this summer.
Bedard and Crosby spent time together in full gear, as Bedard got to meet his longtime idol and spend time with him ahead of the new season.
Washington's regular season begins on Oct. 13 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Capital One Arena.
