Former Washington Capitals netminder Ilya Samsonov wasn't in a talking mood after Thursday's loss for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Florida Panthers, speaking to reporters for a minute and 20 seconds.

And, when asked about matching Sergei Bobrovsky's play and the challenge of matching his level, Samsonov shot back.

"I don't give a fuck," he said bluntly, and when asked why not, added simply, "Doesn’t matter for me. I’m doing my work, he’s doing his work."

Samsonov posted a .857 save percentage in Game 1, a 4-2 loss, and a .897 save percentage in Game 2, a 3-2 defeat. In the first round against the Tampa Bay Lightning, he had a 3.14 GAA and .900 save percentage while impressing in Game 6 to help the team advance to the second round for the first time in 19 years.

Toronto now heads to Florida trailing 2-0 in the series, and Samsonov hopes that the team takes time to reflect and take action to fight back and rally.

"Again, results is bad for us. I think we go back home and look at the mirror yeah and ask what I need to do more for on the ice for team," Samsonov said. "I think it’s what we need to do, everybody.

"It’s big opportunity for us. This time where we show people we really good team, how hard we work, how we come back 2-0, 3-0, it doesn’t matter for us. We need to show this."

The 26-year-old is closing out a one-year contract where he had a major bounce-back year following his struggles in D.C. Through 40 games with the Maple Leafs in the regular season, Samsonov went 27-10-5 with a .919 save percentage and 2.33 GAA.
