The 29-year-old is back in D.C. following a strong summer of training.
The Washington Capitals got another key member of the group back ahead of training camp, as Tom Wilson has made his return to MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
Wilson is among those taking part in informal skates ahead of the new season. He joins an already large group that features the likes of captain Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, John Carlson and more regulars and prospects.
The 29-year-old spent most of his summer training with Paragenix Systems, and he is also cotninuing to recover and feeling more confident following ACL surgery last summer and a broken ankle suffered back in February. He also signed a seven-year contract extension with Washington back in August.
"It's way better. I'm feeling really good. The injury was tough, it was a tough year, but you get to that 12-month mark and beyond, and it's in the rearview," Wilson said following his extension. "I don't focus on it at all anymore... that's really allowed me to have fun in the gym again and get after it and get strong and work hard and focus on the things that will prepare mo for the season, not necessarily just kind of rehabbing [and being] behind the eight ball and things like that. So it's been a great summer. It's been fun to get back ont he ice and just train hard and not have any of those worries."
Wilson appeared in just 33 games last season, managing 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points. Had he played in all 82 games, he would have been on pace for his second consecutive 50-point season and hit a new career high in scoring.
Here's a full look at who's back in town, as well as some highights and a look at the itinerary for the informal skates.
Training camp officially kicks off on Sept. 21.
