The Capitals are getting to work with training camp just over two months away.

With the start of training camp just over two months away, the Washington Capitals are shifting their focus from a summer break to training for the 2023-24 campaign -- and some have already taken the intensity to the next level.

Tom Wilson has been showcasing his on and off-ice training, lifting weights, running and getting work in on the ice. He even skated with former Capitals teammate Devante Smith-Pelly.

Wilson works with strength and conditioning coach Matt Nichol and trains with Paragenix Systems.

Meanwhile, Alex Ovechkin is overseas and will begin training soon in Moscow; his agent told Sport24 back on July 1. He will work with personal trainer Pavel Burlachenko, who he has been training with for years. Ovechkin is also set to play in Danis Zaripov's farewell match on Aug. 9 in Kazan, Russia, according to Bo Sport.

Goaltender Charlie Lindgren is back home in Minnesota and received cupping therapy from chiropractor Anthony Benda. He and Dallas Stars netminder Jake Oettinger are working with Dr. Benda on mobility after adjustments. Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine that reduces inflammation, promotes blood flow and helps reduce back, hip and neck pain while adjusting the spine safely.

    Additional Washington Capitals Training Updates

    - Dylan Strome has also been working with Malleus Performance up in Toronto.

    - T.J. Oshie is spending the week in Lake Tahoe, teeing off for charity in the American Century Championship. He underwent a double ablation at the start of the offseason and said it made his back feel "light years better," and that it would allow him for a fully healthy summer of training.

    - Nicklas Backstrom intends to do the same. He returned home to Sweden for midsummer and a horse trotting race in July and told SportBladet that he has been working in the gym and intends to make the most of his offseason with intense training. It is the first time in years that he will be able to have a full summer of training instead of rehabbing, as hip resurfacing surgery last season has relieved him of years of chronic pain.

    - Trevor van Riemsdyk is on the ice in Massachusetts, skating at the Will O'Neill Hockey Factory with several other NHLers.

    - Martin Fehervary has been fishing and also getting work done in the gym. Several more skaters have also taken to the gym to begin work.

    - As for injury updates, Nic Dowd is recovering from core surgery and will be ready for training camp. He's not playing in Da Beauty League this summer. Rasmus Sandin, who suffered a knee injury at Worlds, will be ready for the start of the season. His injury was not serious.

    - Max Pacioretty is continuing his rehabilitation after suffering a second straight torn Achilles. He will miss the start of the regular season but should be ready to play shortly after that.

Capitals camp opens on Sept. 20.
