The Capitals landed their skill forward.
The Washington Capitals have landed their skill forward to bolster the top-6, acquiring right winger Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues.
Washington acquired Kyrou in exchange for forward Connor McMichael and prospect Milton Gästrin, as well as the No. 16 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
“We are thrilled to acquire Jordan and welcome him to our team,” general manager Chris Patrick said. “Jordan is an exceptionally talented and dynamic offensive player who will make an immediate impact on our club. His skill, creativity, and ability to generate offense at an elite level will be a tremendous addition to our group. At just 28 years old and under contract for the next five seasons, Jordan is entering the prime years of his career. We believe he is an ideal fit for our team both now and for the long term.

Since being drafted in 2019, Connor has represented our team with professionalism and class both on and off the ice. We wish him and his family nothing but success as he begins this next chapter with St. Louis.”
Kyrou is coming off a bit of a down year with the Blues, where he had 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points in 72 games. However, his resume points to more impressive production, as he has three 30-goal seasons under his belt and has hit the 70-point mark three times over six full seasons in the NHL. He hit 37 goals back in 2022-23.
The 28-year-old is entering the fourth year of an eight-year deal that carries a cap hit of $8.125 million.
Meanwhile, McMichael's tenure comes to an end in Washington following a 46-point run in 2025-26. He had a career year the season before last with 26 goals and 31 assists for 57 points in 82 games.
The 25-year-old is a restricted free agent and is up for a contract extension.
Gästrin was the No. 37 overall pick in last year's draft. He is coming off a strong year int he SHL with MoDo Hockey, where he had 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points in 39 games.
