
Washington Capitals defenseman Alex Alexeyev was arrested for public intoxication in Clarendon, Virginia, on Saturday, according to ARLnow.
The 25-year-old defenseman reportedly got into a fight with another individual outside of Big Tony's Pizzeria. Officers witnessed Alexeyev assaulting a male subject and deployed pepper spray, and he was charged with public intoxication and taken into custody. He was treated for pepper spray exposure by medics at the scene, Arlington County Police Department spokesperson Kiyah Daniell told ARLnow.
According to online records, Alexeyev was booked at Arlington County jail in Courthouse and later released.
Alexeyev recently finished his fourth season with the Capitals, playing in eight regular-season games and 10 playoff games. He will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights this offseason.
In 80 career NHL games, the 6-foot-4 rearguard has a goal and seven assists.
