Here's how the Capitals are doing at Worlds.

The Washington Capitals are still representing on the international stage with Team USA and Canada at the IIHF World Championships, with both teams getting near the end of group play.

It's been a tougher go for the Americans this tournament, and Saturday's result was no different in a 4-2 loss to Latvia.

Amid Team USA's struggles, Ryan Leonard moved to the third line to play with Danny Nelson and Oliver Moore. He'd started the tournament on the first line while also helping out on the power play. Leonard led the Americans with six shots on goal, but was a minus-2 through 13:23 minutes.

Through five games, Leonard has a power play goal and a shootout winner, along with eight penalty minutes and 21 shots on goal. He also has a plus/minus of minus-3.

Team USA is now 1-1-0-3 to open play at Worlds, ranking third-to-last in the Group A standings, and has been outscored 17-14. That said, there is a lot of ground to gain if the team wants to advance to the quarterfinals next Thursday.

The Americans will be back in action on Monday against Hungary.

Meanwhile, things have gone a lot smoother for assistant coach Spencer Carbery and goaltending coach Scott Murray and Canada, as the Canadians have gone 4-1-0-0 to open the tournament and topped Slovenia, 3-1, on Friday. They lead Group B in the standings.

Canada returns to play on Sunday against Slovakia.

Quarterfinal play at Worlds kicks off on Thursday, with the top four teams from each group advancing.
