ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals saw more familiar faces take the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Monday, as Dylan Strome and Trevor van Riemsdyk returned to town to join informal skates.

Strome and van Riemsdyk joined a full group for the start of the week session, with Nic Dowd, John Carlson, Sonny Milano, Logan Thompson, Pierre-Luc Dubois and an assortment of NCAA and minor league players also taking the ice with the group.

The Capitals put in some heavy work, kicking things off with skating before getting into small-area shooting and stickhandling drills and scrimmaging. Washington's players then took part in a full-ice scrimmage before preparing for the upcoming skate test that notoriously opens training camp.

Carlson has been leading the skates, while trainers have been watching and timing from the bench.

Skates will continue to fill up ahead of camp in mid-September, with Alex Ovechkin and more Capitals expected to make their way back to the area in the next couple of weeks.
