Sammi Silber - The Hockey News - Capitals Take Terik Parascak With 17th Overall Pick In 2024 NHL Draft

LAS VEGAS — With the No. 17 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Washington Capitals have selected right wing Terik Parascak from the WHL's Prince George Cougars.

In 68 games last season, he posted 43 goals and 62 assists for a record-setting 105 points as a CHL rookie. It was a standout year for the 6-foot, 149-pound winger, who had been playing prep hockey a season beforehand. Now, it’s just a matter of living up to that upside.

Washington had emphasized its desire to go with a defenseman with the 17th selection. However, general manager Brian MacLellan and the organization elected to go a different route.

Parascak was the No. 15 ranked North American skater available. He is known for taking good care of the puck and being a strong playmaker and scorer. He gets to the right places and has a high hockey IQ and the speed and ability to make things happen.
