The Capitals face the Devils at 7 p.m. ET.
The Washington Capitals are taking things on the road for the first time this season, as they head up to New Jersey to take on the Devils.
Washington is coming off convincing back-to-back wins against top Western Conference opponents, who were both handed their first losses of the season in D.C. The Capitals will be looking to keep that momentum going against New Jersey, who defeated them in the season opener.
Per NHL.com's Mike Morreale, Logan Thompson was the first goalie off at the optional morning skate and will get the start in goal.
This will be Thompson's second start of the season as Washington alternates and plays both goalies to open the year. He is coming off a strong showing against his former Vegas Golden Knights, where he posted 24 saves on 26 shots (.923 save percentage) for a 4-2 victory.
Thompson also played against New Jersey in the preseason, managing 25 saves on 28 shots en route to a 5-3 win.
Given the success of the lineup over the last handful of games, not much is expected to change with regard to the combinations. Matt Roy remains out with a lower-body injury.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. ET at Prudential Center.
