Here's what the Capitals had to say following their 4-3 win over the Blue Jackeets, live from the locker room.
WASHINGTON — It was Hendrix Lapierre's night, as the Washington Capitals rode a three-point effort from him and Aliaksei Protas to a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The win was the team's eighth in 10 games, and for Lapierre, it was the biggest game of his career yet as he made the most of his time filling in for an ill Evgeny Kuznetsov.
"I thought it was a great game... it was just find a way to win again, and it's incredible. It's fun," Lapierre said.
In addition to Lapierre and Protas, Sonny Milano and Alex Ovechkin also scored en route to the win. Ovechkin has three goals in his last three games after starting the season with two in 12.
In the midst of the victory also came a controversial good goal for Columbus, where Mathieu Olivier checked an already sprawled out Charlie Lindgren as Ivan Provorov scored on an empty net. Washington's challenge for goaltender interference ultimately failed.
"I'm gonna go no comment on that," Lindgren said bluntly, but did shed more light on it later on.
