The Capitals netminder could be a name to watch in the offseason.

Just a couple of weeks ago, the Washington Capitals were expected to sell going into the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, with the team facing several questions, struggling at both ends of the ice and far out of a playoff spot. but now, things are different, and a sell-off is reportedly not in the cards come March 8.
Per The Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the Capitals aren't in trade mode at this point with under two weeks to go to the deadline, given the team sits just four points out of third place in the Metropolitan Division following their recent turnaround.
As a result, Nic Dowd, Anthony Mantha and other names that have made their way around the rumor mill are reportedly safe — for now.
"For the meantime, Nic Dowd and Anthony Mantha and the rest of the suspects on our Trade Targets board are not officially in the mix," Seravalli wrote.
Although pieces aren't necessarily in play right now, one name that's garnering attention and could get some calls is goaltender Charlie Lindgren.
The 30-year-old, who has one year left on his deal at $1.1 million, has impressed this season for the Capitals and has become the bonafide starter with a .914 save percentage through 27 games.
While the interest is there, Seravalli said that he comes with a high price tag, and that he's not likely to be moved at the deadline — though it's "not impossible." He also added that he would bring in a significant return and comes with a high price tag given his play and low cap hit.
"Definitely a name to keep an eye on this summer with an underwhelming free agent class," Seravalli noted.
