With nine games left in the regular season and plenty of points still up for the taking, the Washington Capitals have some work left ahead of them, and their road to the playoffs continues Tuesday in an important matchup with the Buffalo Sabres.
Here is everything to know before puck drop at 7 p.m. ET at KeyBank Center:
The Capitals will be without T.J. Oshie on Tuesday, as he deals with an upper-body injury. Rasmus Sandin, however, will make his return to the lineup, and with Oshie out, expect Nicolas Aube-Kubel to draw in at forward.
Charlie Lindgren will get the start once again.
Here are the projected lines:
Alex Ovechkin-Connor McMichael-Nicolas Aube-Kubel
Aliaksei Protas-Dylan Strome-Ivan Miroshnichenko
Max Pacioretty-Hendrix Lapierre-Sonny Milano
Beck Malenstyn-Nic Dowd-Mike Sgarbossa
Martin Fehervary-John Carlson
Rasmus Sandin-Nick Jensen
Alex Alexeyev-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Charlie Lindgren
Darcy Kuemper

- John Carlson has points in seven of the last eight games.
- Dylan Strome has points in six of the last seven outings.
- Nic Dowd and Nick Jensen are riding three-game point streaks.
