Even while several Winnipeg Jets players are still competing internationally, the organization is already turning its attention to the March 6 NHL trade deadline. Reports suggest that the team is prioritizing upgrades to its forward group, particularly the second line, as production outside of the top trio of Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, and Gabriel Vilardi has been inconsistent.

Young forward Cole Perfetti has surfaced as a potential trade candidate, though league insiders believe moving him would only make sense if it brought back a high-end asset, such as a player like Shane Wright. Meanwhile, pending unrestricted free agents including Logan Stanley, Luke Schenn, Tanner Pearson, and Gustav Nyquist appear available as the Jets look to extract value from veterans on expiring contracts.

The focus on offensive improvement reflects the team’s current priorities. While the top line continues to perform, management is weighing whether trading promising young talent or expiring veterans can provide the pieces necessary to compete down the stretch. With just over a week and a half before the deadline, the Jets’ front office faces a rapid evaluation and decision-making process.

Jets fans, what do you think of the potential trade block? Should the team hold onto young talent like Cole Perfetti, or is moving some of these pieces worth it to upgrade the forward group? How much change do you expect before the trade deadline hits?
