In a recent piece for NHL Trade Rumors, Rob Couch laid out six potential landing spots for Jordan Kyrou if the St. Louis Blues decide to move him. Among teams like the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings, and Seattle Kraken, Couch included the Winnipeg Jets as a team that makes sense on paper.
Couch pointed out that while Winnipeg faces a steep climb in the standings this season, the need for scoring depth is obvious. The Jets have struggled offensively, with only three forwards surpassing 10 goals. That lack of production has made it difficult to stay competitive in tight games. According to Couch, Kyrou is exactly the type of top six winger Winnipeg is missing, especially after losing Nikolaj Ehlers last offseason.
He also emphasized Kyrou’s track record of 30 plus goals and 70 plus points in three of the past four seasons. Even with injuries and a down year in St. Louis, his value remains high. Couch suggests that if the Jets want to quickly address their scoring issues and retool on the fly, Kyrou could be a major piece, provided they can convince him that Winnipeg is built to win long term.
