In a report from Daily Face-Off, Kyle Morton outlined the likelihood that the Winnipeg Jets will trade defenseman Logan Stanley as a rental ahead of the NHL trade deadline. After winning the Presidents’ Trophy last season, the Jets have struggled to keep pace in the standings and currently sit eight points out of the final Western Conference playoff spot.

Morton highlights that Stanley, with a $1.25 million cap hit, is an attractive option for teams looking for affordable, size and defensive depth. On a recent episode of Daily Face-Off LIVE, insiders including David Pagnotta noted that Stanley is expected to be moved, with no current contract extensions in place. Pagnotta called this season a “coming out” year for Stanley, predicting strong interest from multiple teams due to his performance and favorable salary.

Co-host Tyler Yaremchuk added that in today’s playoff cap environment, teams often prefer lower-cost players in the $1.5–2 million range to maintain flexibility, making Stanley an ideal trade candidate. With the Olympics and trade deadline approaching, Morton emphasizes that the Jets are preparing to sell pieces and maximize return from assets like Stanley as they pivot away from a playoff push this season.
