The Winnipeg Jets hosted a special homecoming on Sunday as the Ottawa Charge of the PWHL took part in the league’s takeover tour and played the Montreal Victoire in Winnipeg.
Local fans got an extra memorable moment when accomplished Canadian player and proud Winnipegger Jocelyne Larocque was surprised by her teammates, all wearing graphic tees featuring her name and likeness in honor of her return to her hometown.
Larocque, 37, is one of the most decorated defenders in women’s hockey. She is a three‑time Olympian for Team Canada with two Olympic gold medals (2014 and 2022) and one Olympic silver medal (2018) to her name.
She has also represented Canada at 12 IIHF Women’s World Championships, earning four world gold medals, seven silver medals and one bronze medal along the way.
Larocque became only the fifth player in Team Canada history and the first defender to appear in 200 international games, a testament to her longevity and leadership on the world stage. She serves as an alternate captain for the Ottawa Charge and continues to be a key presence for both her club and country.
