It has been a rough stretch for the Winnipeg Jets. Over their last 17 games, the team has managed only 2 wins against 15 losses, a skid so brutal it now trails the infamously struggling New York Jets in the NFL over the same span.

That is right.

The Jets, a team once considered a model of consistency and competitiveness in the NHL, are now underperforming a franchise long synonymous with heartbreak and losing.

The misery does not stop there as during this stretch, Winnipeg set an NHL record with 13 consecutive one-goal losses, proving that even when they are close, they cannot quite seal the deal. Every night has been a test of patience for fans as the team seemingly finds new ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

As the season trudges on, the Jets sit last in the NHL with a 15-22-5 record. Their playoff hopes are all but extinguished. Instead, the conversation has shifted to the draft, where Winnipeg will likely be contending for a top-two pick, in a bittersweet mirror of the New York Jets’ perennial draft lottery struggles.
