On Friday against the Anaheim Ducks, veteran forward Gustav Nyquist played in his 900th career NHL game with the Winnipeg Jets.
It’s a really significant milestone for a player who has been in the league for more than a decade. Nyquist was originally drafted 121st overall in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings and made his NHL debut in the 2011–12 season.
Across his career to date, Nyquist has put up solid numbers. Prior to reaching the 900-game mark this season, he had played in 863 NHL games, scoring 209 goals and adding 322 assists for 531 career points.
He has worn the jerseys of several franchises over the years, including Detroit, the San Jose Sharks, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Minnesota Wild, the Nashville Predators, and now Winnipeg.
Beyond regular season play he has also logged extensive playoff experience and represented Sweden internationally, including at the Olympic Games and World Championships.
Reaching 900 games is a testament to Nyquist’s durability and consistency as a pro. Let him know what you think of his long NHL journey and what he’s meant to your team so far.
