On Friday against the Anaheim Ducks, Elias Salomonsson scored the first goal of his NHL career in a hard‑fought 5‑4 overtime loss for the Winnipeg Jets. Salomonsson’s goal came early in the third period when he snapped a shot past Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal to give the Jets a 3‑1 lead at 1:27 of the frame, marking a memorable milestone in his young career.

Salomonsson, who was selected 55th overall by the Jets in the 2022 NHL Draft, has split time between Winnipeg and the Manitoba Moose this season. Prior to his first goal, he had appeared in about 15 NHL games, recording 21 shots on net, 16 hits, and 14 blocked shots while playing a bottom‑four defensive role and posting a minus‑4 rating.

Before being called up to Winnipeg, Salomonsson showed promise in the AHL with the Moose, where he put up points and earned recognition for his play as a young defenseman.

Scoring his first NHL goal is a landmark moment for the 21‑year‑old from Skellefteå, Sweden, and one that Jets fans will remember as he continues his development at the NHL level.

Jets fans, what did you think of Salomonsson’s first goal and his body of work this season so far? Do you see him becoming a regular contributor on the blue line moving forward?
