In a recent story by Jamie Thomas for Winnipeg Jets, the team’s Wives and Girlfriends partnered with the Winnipeg Humane Society to host a pet food drive at the February 4 game against the Montreal Canadiens. Fans are encouraged to bring wet or dry dog and cat food donations to Canada Life Centre, or contribute monetary donations that will be used to purchase essential pet supplies. Those who donate will also have a chance to win a Jets-themed pet prize pack.

The Jets Wives and Girlfriends emphasized the importance of supporting pets and their owners, saying their involvement with local shelters shows the daily challenges faced by families and animals in need. “Supporting the Pet Food Bank helps ensure pet owners have access to food for their companions during challenging times, keeping pets and families together,” they said.

The WHS Pet Food Bank saw nearly a 300 percent increase in usage in 2025, helping close to 400 families each month, and demand is expected to rise further in 2026. Fans who cannot attend the game can still contribute by dropping off donations directly at the Winnipeg Humane Society or donating online.

This initiative follows the Wives and Girlfriends’ recent holiday fundraiser for the True North Youth Foundation, highlighting their ongoing commitment to giving back to the Winnipeg community.
