The Winnipeg Jets improved to 40-14-3 with a 4-3 shootout win over the St. Louis Blues from Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Saturday night.
The Jets pulled ahead to a 1-0 lead on a Nikolaj Ehlers one-timer just five minutes into the game. The goal garnered assists from Cole Perfetti and recently re-signed Vlad Namestnikov.
Robert Thomas tied things up shortly thereafter, scoring his first of two goals on the night.
Gabe Vilardi put the Jets back ahead midway through the second period, but Thomas got his second of the game just 16 into the third period, tying the game at twos.
A Pavel Buchnevich power play goal late in the third period looked to be the winner, that is, until Vilardi capitalized on a six-on-five empty net scenario.
His 26th of the year knotted things up at threes, sending the two teams to overtime.
However, for the first time all season, Winnipeg was unable to score, or be scored against in the extra frame. The game went into a shootout, to which USA silver medalist healthy scratch Kyle Connor finished off Joel Hofer's night with a slick move in the shootout, sealing the deal on a 4-3 road victory.
The Win was Winnipeg's ninth straight, which set a franchise record for most wins in a row, beating the Jets' eight-game streak from earlier this season.
Comrie turned aside 21 of 24 shots on goal, while Hofer made 24 saves on the 28 shots he faced.
Next up for Winnipeg is a home test on Monday night agains the San Jose Sharks. Puck drop is set for 6:30 PM central time.
