The Winnipeg Jets pulled off a massive Game 1 victory, coming from behind in the third period to defeat the St. Louis Blues, and will be looking for a similar result tonight in Game 2.
Although it wasn't a picture-perfect game, the Jets did something they haven't done in the playoffs in quite some time: finding any way to win. The third period was a dominant display, limiting the Blues to just two shots on goal and registering nine of their own.
For Game 2, the Jets will stick with the lines that worked. The Blues will be making one subtle move, swapping a pair of young wingers in their top six. Jake Neighbours played alongside Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich in Game 1, but he'll move down to line two with Brayden Schenn and Jordan Kyrou, moving Jimmy Snuggerud up.
The Jets' penalty kill needs improvement tonight after the Blues went 2-3 in Game 1. The Jets were also outhit 53-33 and lost the faceoff battle 35-26. If the Jets can improve in those categories, they'll make life more difficult for the Blues and take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
Connor Hellebuyck and Jordan Binnington will battle once again tonight, both with performances they likely weren't too thrilled about in Game 1. Tonight's matchup should see improved performances from both netminders.
