The Winnipeg Jets return from the holiday break to host the Ottawa Senators in an all-Canadian matchup on Saturday night.
The Jets, winners of seven of their last ten games and currently on a two-game win streak, take on a Senators team that has found its way. For years, the Senators felt they were ready to take the next step and compete for a playoff spot but fell short several times. This year, the Senators have found consistency and currently hold the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Jets enter tonight's game in second in the Western Conference in points percentage and hold a three-point lead over the Minnesota Wild for the Pacific Division.
Last time out, both Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor reached the 20-goal plateau for the 10th and eighth time in their careers. The Jets' top line consisting of Connor, Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi has been dominating during their recent success and against a Senators team scoring 3.09 goals per game, they'll need their offence to be clicking on all cylinders to keep themselves in the game.
Logan Stanley will make his return to the lineup after missing the team's previous two games due to an injury. Dylan Coghlan was called up from the Manitoba Moose yesterday but won't dress tonight as Ville Heinola will remain in the lineup after Haydn Fleury was announced week-to-week after suffering a lower-body injury against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Rasmus Kupari will also step back into the lineup to replace David Gustaffson, who will be a healthy scratch.
Puck drop is at 6:00 P.M. CST at the Canada Life Centre.
