The Winnipeg Jets' streak comes to an end, losing 2-1 to the Nashville Predators on the second half of a back-to-back.
While riding as high as a team can be, the Jets entered tonight's affair with an abundance of confidence, but an impressive performance from the Predators put an end to their 11-game streak.
The Predators opened the scoring in the first period with a quick wrister off a face-off. The organization's leading scorer, Filip Forsberg, sneakily beat Eric Comrie.
Neal Pionk tied things up 1-1 after he beat Juuse Saros with a shot from the point. The Jets' fourth line has been a bit quiet since returning from the 4 Nations Face-Off but made their presence felt in the opening frame.
Alex Iafallo took a tripping penalty with just over six minutes left in the first period and Tommy Novak took advantage, scoring his 12th goal of the season.
The middle stanza finished scoreless, although the Jets put the pressure on the Predators, forcing them to kill three penalties. The Jets are now 0/14 on the power play in the last five games.
It was much of the same in the third period. Saros shut the door when called upon but generating offence was a tough task for the Jets.
Comrie did everything he could, turning away 28 of the 30 shots he faced but his three-game win streak comes to an end. Saros returns to the win column, stopping 23 of the 24 shots the Jets threw at him.
The Jets are back in action on Saturday when they host rookie sensation Matvei Michkov and the Philadelphia Flyers.
