The Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars split the first two games in Winnipeg, and as the series shifts to Dallas, both teams are searching for any advantage.

Game 2 was a dominant affair by the Jets, shutting out the Stars. The Jets' star players stepped up in a major way. Gabriel Vilardi and Nikolaj Ehlers each scored their first goals in the playoffs, and their captain, Adam Lowry, added the insurance marker in the second period.

It was a much-needed performance for Connor Hellebuyck, turning away all 21 shots he faced. Although his performance was a positive sign, heading out onto the road has proved difficult for Hellebuyck. In all three road games in round one, Hellebuyck was yanked from his net, allowing 16 goals.

If the 31-year-old can replicate his performance from Game 2, the Jets can steal a game or two on the road.

Prior to Game 2, HC Scott Arniel made a surprise change to his lineup, healthy scratching Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley in place of Haydn Fleury and Colin Miller. The move paid off for the Jets. According to Natural Stat Trick, the Jets outshot, had the higher expected goals percentage and allowed no high-danger chances at 5-on-5.

The Stars finished the first round of the playoffs with a 3-1 record on home ice. They can seek matchups they feel comfortable with and seemingly play with more pace in transition. Keeping the Stars in check will prove to be a difficult task.
