The Winnipeg Jets have fallen to 30-14-5 on the season.

The Winnipeg Jets have lost five-straight games and six of their last eight.

On Thursday evening, the Jets picked up their second loss in Pennsylvania over the past 48 hours, falling 4-1 to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The hosts got things going early, putting three goals past Laurent Brossoit in the opening frame, before adding another in the middle stanza.

Travis Konecny registered a Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal, assist and fight in the game, while Kyle Connor scored the lone marker for Winnipeg, his 19th of the season and first since the All-Star Game.

Connor's goal spoiled Samuel Ersson's shutout bid, coming with just 5:12 left to play, preventing a blank sheet for the third time in the team's past four outings.

"We'll pull through this; five-on-five, we're still the best team in this league," head coach Rick Bowness said postgame of the three five-on-five goals his team allowed.

Over the five-game losing streak, the Jets have fallen from the top of the standings to third in the Central Division and eighth overall. The team has scored just 10 goals in its last eight outings, and four over the losing skid.

"Right now, we're not scoring goals," Bowness continued. "We're going to stay with what the Winnipeg Jets are, and we're going to keep working and we'll pull through this."

Winnipeg outshot Philadelphia 29-21 on the night, but didn't have much help in net, as Brossoit made just 17 stops, while allowing a shorthanded goal to Ryan Poehling in the second period.

The game did mark the first instance to which a Jets netminder gave up more than three goals since November 2 - which included a stretch of 34 games to which the team allowed just three goals against or less.

Defenceman Brenden Dillon served the first game of his three-game suspension on Thursday, and is in line to return for the Jets' Saturday night tilt against the league-leading Vancouver Canucks next weekend.

Trade acquisition Sean Monahan suited up in his second game for Winnipeg, and is now a -2 while averaging 20 shifts a game as the No. 2 centreman on approximately 16:15 of ice time.

Logan Stanley made his return to the lineup in Dillon's place, finishing with nearly 15 minutes of ice time, three shots on goal and one hit. He did not appear out of place.

The Jets are in need of a serious turnaround, as they travel back home to face Pittsburgh and San Jose over the next six days.

Starting the season 11-0-3 against teams from the Eastern Conference (25 of a possible 28 points), Winnipeg has gone 2-5-1 since, picking up just five of a possible 16 points in its inter-conference games from January 13 and on.

Once a dominant offence, the goal scoring has cooled significantly, while weaknesses on the blueline and in goal have fans in turmoil. Having seen a similar movie last season - to which the second-place Jets fell out of playoff contention before sneaking their way back in at the end the year - the hope is that the blip in the radar is momentary, and a fix can be found at Canada Life Centre on Saturday.

That game against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins features a 6:00 PM central start time and a can be viewed live on Sportsnet.
