The Winnipeg Jets will be without Mark Scheifele for the remainder of Thursday's game.

The Winnipeg Jets have lost forward Mark Scheifele to a lower-body injury.

The 30-year-old forward left the game shortly into the second period after pulling up gimp off a power play backcheck on his first shift of the middle stanza.

He finished Tuesday's game early, after taking a deflected Josh Morrissey slap shot to the ear, but seemed fully capable through the opening period on Thursday evening.

Scheifele was wearing additional ear protection for the game on Thursday.

The club ruled him out with what they called a lower-body injury, just moments after he left the ice, adding to his concern.

Postgame, head coach Rick Bowness did not have much to say about his injured centreman, other than the fact that Scheifele will be re-evaluated on Friday by team physicians.
