
Winnipeg Jets' backstop Connor Hellebuyck has been named the NHL's first star of the week.
On Monday it was announced that Hellebuyck has been recognized as the league's top player over the course of the past week.
Over the last seven days, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner suited up in all three of Winnipeg's games, posting a perfect 3-0-0 record, while amassing two shutouts - coming 1:22 from a third-straight clean sheet.
He posted 191:47 of shutout hockey - setting the Winnipeg Jets' franchise record of consecutive minutes without a single goal allowed - while propelling the league-leading Jets to an NHL record of 14 wins in 15 games to start the season (14-1-0).
The 31-year-old Hellebuyck leads the league with 11 wins, a 1.83 goals against average, a .935 save percentage and three shutouts.
Hellebuyck's numbers over the past week were sensational, which included a .989 save percentage and a 0.33 goals against average.
The Jets are back in action on Tuesday night in New York, where they will take on the Metropolitan Division powerhouse Rangers in an inter-conference battle.
