Former Winnipeg Jets defenceman Jordie Benn has signed a professional tryout with the Dallas Stars.

Jordie, the brother of Stars captain Jamie, spent the biggest chunk of his NHL career in Dallas, as he suited up for the Stars from 2011-17, producing 11 goals, 71 points and 119 penalty minutes as a stay-at-home blueliner.

Benn, now 36, then bounced between four Canadian clubs over the past seven seasons, which included stops in Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto and Winnipeg, as well as a quick 39-game deviation to Minnesota in 2021-22.

With Winnipeg, Benn played just eight games and recorded an assist, while also getting taste of the Winnipeg Whiteout, as he suited up in three postseason contests, where he put up another single assist.

Benn split the 2022-23 season between the Maple Leafs and Toronto's AHL affiliate, the Marlies, where he worked his way back to being an every day player despite battling a number of injuries.

The veteran defender has suited up in 607 regular season games, to which he has accumulated 26 goals, 137 points and 244 penalty minutes.
