
Former Manitoba Moose star forward Cody Hodgson is returning to the game after an eight-year break.
On Wednesday it was announced that the Markham, ON. product had signed a professional tryout with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
The 33-year-old 10th overall pick of the Vancouver Canucks (2008) has skated in 328 NHL games from 2010 to 2016 with the Canucks, Buffalo Sabres and Nashville Predators. He has 64 goals and 142 points over that time.
Hodgson also earned a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2009 running of the World Junior Hockey Championship, scoring an incredible five goals and 16 points in just six games.
Breaking into professional hockey with the Manitoba Moose after a stellar junior career that saw him finish as the OHL and CHL Player of the Year following the 2008-09 season, Hodgson spent parts of two seasons with Manitoba, contributing 19 goals and 36 points in 63 games with the organization.
He was forced into retirement in 2016 at 26 thanks to an ongoing muscle disorder, malignant hyperthermia, which relates to improper gene mutation.
Milwaukee is currently 22-10-1 and sits first place in the Central Division through 33 games played, while owning a 9-1-0 record in their last 10 outings.
