Making its return last season following a COVID hiatus, the skills competition came back for its second-straight appearance, to which players were divided up onto two separate teams where they competed against one another in a variety of individual and team-specific competitive drills.
Five different competition events were held, including the fastest skater, accuracy shooting, the hardest shot, a team puck relay and the breakaway challenge - to which highlights occurred and memories were certainly made by players and fans alike.
Gabriel Vilardi went 4/4 on his accuracy shooting in just six seconds, while Nate Schmidt teamed up with Abigail Warkentin of the MWJHL's Northern Stars for a unique breakaway marker.
Warkentin was joined by the CSSHL's Keyauna Robinson-Prefontaine (St. Mary's Flames) as youth goaltenders serving as the backstops on the night, giving goaltenders Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit a much deserved night off.
Team White, consisting of Adam Lowry, Brenden Dillon, Mark Scheifele, Nino Niederreiter, Dylan DeMelo, Josh Morrissey, Cole Perfetti, Nate Schmidt and Declan Chisholm ended up as the 2023-24 winners.
Proceeds from the event went towards the NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund as well as the ALS Super Fund. Tickets were listed from $10-20 and included an option for reserved seating.
