Five players with ties to the province of Manitoba suited up at the 2023 NHLPA Rookie Showcase on Tuesday.

Held at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia select NHL prospects and rookies stepped out into the limelight donning their respective NHL team's colours, while posing for photos by Upper Deck for their first official trading cards.

Of the 34 participants at the 13th annual event, two were from Manitoba, while three others played their Major Junior hockey within the province.

Manitobans on the ice included Conor Geekie (Arizona Coyotes) and Denton Mateychuk (Columbus Blue Jackets).

While other players who have spent considerable time within the province included Matthew Savoie (Buffalo Sabres) who played three years for the now defunct Winnipeg ICE and Ridly Greig (Ottawa Senators) and Vinny Iorio (Washington Capitals) who each played four years for the Brandon Wheat Kings (2018-19 to 2021-22).
