The Winnipeg Jets head home from Montreal on a four-game point streak.

No, they didn't win the game against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday evening, but they walked away with a single point, falling 4-3 by way of a shootout.

Despite pulling ahead 3-1, the Jets ended up on the losing end on Saturday.

Adam Lowry scored twice for Winnipeg, while Nick Suzuki had the shootout winner, as the now 4-3-1 Winnipeg Jets were ultimately handed the loss in Montreal from the Bell Centre.

Goaltender Laurent Brossoit failed to earn his first win of the season, as he turned aside 26 of 29 shots in his attempt at holding down the fort en lieu of starter Connor Hellebuyck.

The Jets came out firing in the first period, putting up 19 total shots on net to Montreal's six. Unfortunately for Winnipeg, netminder Jake Allen made 18 stops, allowing just one goal.

That lone goal came off the stick of captain Adam Lowry, who found his first of the season on a penalty shot after being hooked on a breakaway.

In a game between brothers - Morgan and Justin Barron - the younger of the two Maritimes products found his third of the year, as Montreal tied the game just 37 seconds after Lowry's opening tally.

Lowry, the Jets' 13-goal man from a season ago, then found his second of the game just moments into the second period. Then it was linemate Nino Niederreiter who bulged the twine for Winnipeg 18 seconds after that.

So, in a span of 33 seconds, the Jets pulled ahead to a 3-1 lead with 19:27 remaining in the second period. Winger Mason Appleton picked up assists on both goals.

Montreal got one back on the power play, as Sean Monahan cut Winnipeg's lead to one near the midway mark on a power play goal.

The Jets led 3-2 and remained atop the shot chart 30-17 through 40 minutes.

Brenden Dillon and Tanner Pearson dropped the mitts in the early stages of the third period, as the Jets' defenceman ultimately grew tired of Pearson's tactics and sent him to the box.

Moments after an unsuccessful Habs power play expired, Winnipeg gave up the game-tying goal to former Jets forward Joel Armia.

The Jets were handed a power play with 1:42 to play, as Arber Xhekaj was called for high-sticking Nikolaj Ehlers. Having gone 0/9 in its most recent opportunities and a combined 4/31 on man advantages this season, the late-game power play was once again unable to deliver, sending the two teams to overtime.

Winnipeg led 41-26 on the shot chart through regulation, with Allen certainly being the busier of the two netminders. The Jets outshot the Canadiens 4-3 in overtime, but neither team was able to produce a winner, so a shootout was required.

Habs captain Nick Suzuki scored as Montreal's first shooter, before each of Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers were denied on their breakaway attempts.
